Aliu Ferinyaro has added his name to the history book of ABS FC as he scored the winner for the team in their first home game against Zamfara United on Saturday.

The Saraki Army made a return to the main bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex after spending the whole of last season at their temporary home ground of Soun Stadium in Ogbomoso.

While the visitors proved to be a hard knock to crack, the Coach Danlami Kwasau boys left no chance for them to cause any damage in their half throughout the game.

Aliu’s header in the 6th minute was deflected into the net to give the hosts the goal that would ultimately earn them the victory. It was the first league goal for the rock-solid defender whose impact left a huge impression on many.

His heroism would also see him taking charge in the heart of ABS FC defense with one of his best moments coming in the first half when he stopped a goal-bound shot to the admiration of many.

Meanwhile, the hosts failed to add more to the tally as their effort in the final third lacked coordination and was haphazard.

While Damilola Emmanuel’s header went up wide in the 52nd minute, Ayoku Abdulraheem also came close to doubling the lead some six minutes later but his close range effort also hit off the mark.

The cutting edge, despite the introduction of a few legs in the final quarter struggle for an impact which summarily leaves the technical crew of the team to more work.

Speaking after the game, Coach Danlami Kwasau of ABS FC commended his boys for their performance, while noting that the technical crew will work hard to correct the lapses in their performance.

“It’s a great game for us. I give it to the boys and we will work hard to address some of the areas we need to improve on” said the gaffer who said that the team will not settle for anything less than the NPFL ticket in the new season.

On Aliu’s performance, Coach Kwasau described the sensation as another one for the future, adding that he has proven his mettle to earn a shirt and hopes that he sustains his five-star delivery.

Ferinyaro is a graduate of ABS FC youth programme that enables young players to grow through cadres before their integration into the main team.
