….. Target Al Urooba stays in the elite league.
Nigerian duo of Kingsley Eduwo and Yusuf Olayinka was on parade for United Emirates side Al Urooba, but it was Kingsley Eduwo who shined bright like a million stars scoring a brace to secure a vital 2-2 home draw against Sharjah in the Arabian Gulf League clash on Thursday evening at the Ittihad Kalba Stadium.
The visitors got off to a blistering start as Caio scored the opener early in the first minutes of the game to put his side ahead, Eduwo, however, gave an instant reply just six minutes into the game scoring his first goal for the club in the seventh minutes to restored parity, ending a seven games goal drought in the process.
Not long in the game, Sharjah was back in control after Shahin Abdurahman restored their lead in the 22nd minute as they dazzled through and went into halftime with the lead.
Just four minutes after the hour mark (64th) Eduwo rose to the occasion once again as he drew Al Urooba level, completing his brace on the night to earn his team a vital point which was enough to keep Al Urooba on 13th position on the Arabian Gulf League standing.
The former Lobi Stars striker expressed his excitement after his fabulous display and promised to get more goals for the club.
“I feel so elated scoring a brace, it is a very big way to open my goal chat, with this by God’s grace I know I will score more goals”, he told www.owosports.com.ng.
Eduwo, 25, revealed how disappointed he was not getting into the score sheet in his first seven games but maintained his composure as he wasn’t doing badly playing according to the coach’s instructions.
“I was feeling so bad but I was playing very well in all games, I made assists just that the goals were not coming.
“It was due to the formation our coach is playing, I was doing what he wants me to do, and I always remind him that I am a striker, as my main objective on the field is to score goals.
The goal poacher maintained that his target is to see that Al Urooba continues in the Arabia Gulf league next season.
“We are not bad and not good, because the team just got promoted to the elite division.
“Most of us are new players from different leagues, so we are just trying to know each other more and try to understand ourselves.
“We are in a building process of getting a strong team, that our fans will be proud of, with the effort of the coach, we will surely get there”, he concluded.
Midfielder Yusuf Olayinka was on for the entire duration of the game, while Kingsley Eduwo was replaced in the 85th minute by Said Obaid.
