The Nigerian trio of Joe Aribo, Emmanuel Dennis, and Taiwo Awoniyi are through to the EFL Cup semi-finals with Southampton and Nottingham Forest respectively.
The EFL Cup is an annual knockout competition and major trophy in men’s domestic football in England contested among the clubs in the top four divisions in the country.
The 26-year-old Aribo was an unused substitute for Southampton who beat Manchester City 2-0 at St Mary’s stadium on Wednesday night.
At the City Ground stadium, Dennis was introduced in the 68th minute while his fellow countryman Awoniyi was missing from the squad as Nottingham Forest beat Wolves to progress on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time
The semi-final fixtures pairing will be Southampton against Newcastle United while Nottingham Forest will play the first leg at home against Manchester United.
