Former England Under-20 youngsters Ademola Lookman is close to making a switch to Nigeria.

The Leicester City youngster has represented England at the U19, U20, and U21 levels. His best moments at the junior level were England’s triumph at the 2017 U20 World Cup.

Looman, 24, was born in the United Kingdom and he is eligible to play for England or Nigeria on account of his parent. The Three Lions manager,  Gareth Southgate appears to be spoilt with options upfront and that has reduced the chance for a call-up to the national team for the winger.

In 2020 Lookman turn down an opportunity to represent Nigeria when the Nigeria Football Federation approached him.  Though he kept his options opened insisting that he hasn’t changed his mind on representing England at the senior level but noted that he is open knowing that he has an opportunity to represent Nigeria.

NFF chief scout Tunde Adelakun in a chat with BBC informed that the NFF is aware of Lookman’s desire to make a switch.

“We are aware of Lookman’s desire to play for us and I have spoken to him as well. However, there is a process to it,” Adelakun told BBC

“After this process, then comes the consideration and decision of the head coach [Rohr] on whether or when he deems it fit to get him involved”.
