Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi was the hero for his newly-promoted English Premier League side, Nottingham Forest as they pipped West Ham by a lone goal which was the club’s first EPL goal in 23 years and 90 days.

The 25-year-old Nigerian who joined Forest from Bundesliga side, Union Berlin couldn’t hold his happiness after realizing he scored the club’s first goal after 23 years and 90 days, since Chris Bart-Williams’s goal against Leicester in May 1999.

In an interview with the club media team, ” I felt happy scoring the goal and I have to give kudos to the lads because it’s a team sport and that’s what we shown against the Hammers.

“For me, it’s the job of a striker to get the ball into the net and that’s what just happened Being the first player to score the goal, I’m very happy about it and looking forward to more.”
