Taiwo Awoniyi impressed while his compatriot Emmanuel Dennis was an unused substitute for Nottingham Forest who battled to get a point against Chelsea in their opening Premier League fixture in 2023.
The former Union Berlin of Germany striker Awoniyi was in the starting lineup for Forest’s successive game as his relegation-threatening club started the game in the 19th position on the log.
The 25-year-old was impressive throughout his stay in the match using his strength and pace to cause problems for Chelsea’s defense on several occasions, before he was substituted after playing 88 minutes in the contest.
Raheem Sterling gave Chelsea the lead in the 16th minute of the game before Ivorian defender Serge Aurier leveled for the home side in the 63rd minute from a corner kick.
Meanwhile, his compatriot Emmanuel Dennis failed to make an appearance after he was named among the substitute.
The next task for Awoniyi and Nottingham Forest is an away match against Southampton at St Mary’s stadium on the 4th of January, 2023.
