An adage in Yoruba says its only at home they don’t value Cock/Hen, but its being celebrated outside. Which means, you can be King elsewhere but may be seen as a slave in your place.
One of Nigerian football coaches, Azeez Mohammed is proving that adage once again to be true.
Mohammed is making a statement for himself and Nigeria in far away Sudan as his team Hilal El Fasheer is setting records every week in the top flight division of the country.
Hilal El Fasheer are on four games unbeaten streak after recording another historical away win on Thursday against Al Ahli Shendi.
Muzzammil Sadiq gave El Fasheer the first half lead when he finished up a perfect team build up.
Umar Musa scored the second goal for Coach Muhammed’s side with ten minutes to see out the match, capitalizing on a loose defense of Ahli Shendi.
The host got what would then became a consolation goal with a minute to end the match through Yasir Muzzammil.
Coach Mohammed who hails from Olamaboro Local Government in the Eastern part of Kogi State of Western Nigeria disclosed after the game that his side’s decent run in the league was down to dedication and focus.
He commended his players for another impressive performance just as he charged to remain focused ahead of their next game away to Hayyal Al Arab in Port Sudan on Tuesday.
“We are happy for this victory over a very strong team, the boys did well and played as planned, they are picking up bit by bit, match after match and we want to continue like this with more improvement and we’ll see where this takes us in the end.
“The most important thing is to keep on doing well, I don’t want this to get to their heads, we need to be more focused for our next match against Hayyal and I believe if we can maintain this momentum with little improvement, we will record success again,” he said.
Recall Hilal El Fasheer was involved in a fatal accident last year which claimed lives of their star player and assistant coach.
Mohammed who join El Fasheer in 2018 when they were in lower division said the period was tough for his side as the deceased were important figures in the team but have get over it.
He added that the new players signed midway through the season have really gelled well and helping the team.
“That was a tough times for us, their thoughts fill our minds daily but thank God to have passed through it, the team is picking up again after that as you can see and I’m impressed with few injections we made at mid season, I have confidence that we can maintain this spell,” He said.
Asked if he will jump at any chance of taking any Nigerian club side in the future, Coach Muhammed who has spent over a decade in Sudan said he would love to experience how it is to handle a team in his native land.
“I have always imagining it, I’ve wish to experience it, I’ve been here (in Sudan) for more than 12 years. I would love to have that coaching experience in Nigeria. I’m available for any top sides.”
Coach Azeez Muhammed has managed about eight clubs in over a decade stay in Sudan including Hashim Sinnar FC, Shabbab Nasir FC, Alamir FC, Hayyal Wadi FC and Amal Athbara FC.
