Remo Stars Kayode Bankole has credited the Sky Blues good form to everyone at the club as he became the first goalkeeper to record two clean sheets in the new Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season which entered Matchday 3 on Wednesday.
The Sky Blues Stars who are making their third appearance in the NPFL recorded their first good start of the season winning on road against MFM FC of Lagos in a south-west derby and shooting three goals past Heartland at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, to lead the log with 6points and with a superior goals difference of five ahead Enyimba.
Going into today’s (Wednesday) home game against Nasarawa United, Bankole says he would rather Remo Stars take the maximum 3points than keep a clean sheet or drop points in front of their home fans.
“It has been a good feeling for me and my teammates but I also want to give glory to God for what we have achieved in two matches.
” The next game will be like the others we have played, tough but we’ll go all out for the win.”
Meanwhile, Bankole gave some kudos to the club fans who not minding the thrills of the Boxing Day, took out time to come cheer them on against Heartland.
“Our fans have been extraordinary backing the team during our campaign in the Nigerian National League(NNL), so it’s no wonder the stands in the stadium was packed full.
“We owe part of our successes to them as they have been the 12th man in all our matches this far.”
