Coach Samson Unuanel has debunked the rumours of his sack as the Assistant Coach of Kano Pillars FC.
Reacting to a poser on the popular Whatsapp platform, Kwara Sports Arena on Wednesday on whether he has been dismissed by the Sai Masu Gida boys, the former Kwara United Head Coach said he has only left the team due to his health condition.
“Ask me, I am here ,Samson David Unuanel has not been sacked (sic) in Kano pillars. I took permission to treat myself. Thanks.” said the experienced gaffer who has been constantly sighted in Ilorin for the past few weeks.
The former Calabar Rovers Coach had earlier in the season joined the NPFL giants where he has worked with the Technical Adviser of CHAN Eagles, Coach Salisu Yusuf and Ibrahim Musa, the Chief Coach of the team.
Kano Pillars are having a poor run in the current NPFL season. A form that has seen them stucked in the relegation zone as they currently occupy 19th on the league table with 29 points from 27 games.
The team, has among many other things had to battle with issue around match venues and heavy sanctions from the League Management Company (LMC) in the season under review.
After starting out the season at their adopted Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, the team would eventually be banned to Muhammed Dikko Stadium in Katsina due to violation of NPFL matchday rules.
While they were eventually returned back to Sanni Abacha Stadium in Kano after two years away from their original homeground, their fans went rampaging again in a league match against Katsina United, destroying the bus of their opponents and disrupting the match at 79th minutes of play.
Reacting to the incident, LMC among other punishments banised Kano Pillars to Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja for the rest of the season, slammed the team a fine of 9 million naira and order them to provide another bus for Katsina United.
The team will on matchday 29 of the NPFL play host to Heartland FC in a tie that could be described as a they continue to battle against relegation.
