In a chat to Soccer Laduma, CAF President Patrice Motsepe has shed light on the unexpected decision to change the dates of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The tournament, initially slated for June and July, will now be held at a later date to avoid a clash with the revamped Club World Cup.

Motsepe explained that the conflict would have affected numerous African players, forcing them to choose between their clubs and countries.

By changing the dates, CAF aims to ensure a more successful and inclusive tournament.

While the new dates have yet to be announced, Motsepe expressed his appreciation for Morocco’s efforts in hosting the African Nations Championship and promised fans a more exciting experience.
