Kwara United Chairman Kumbi Titiloye has confirmed that the club will play it’s CAF confederation cup home match against AS Douanes of Niger at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Lagos, Owosports.com.ng reports.
Kwara United home ground the Kwara State Complex Stadium Ilorin wasn’t included in the list of stadia approved for the hosting of CAF Inter-club competition which has prompted the club to look for an alternative venue.
“Caf approved only seven stadiums in Nigeria and the closest to us is the Mobolaji Johnson Arena so that is where we would play our first game”, Kumbi Titiloye told owosport.com.ng after Kwara United preseason friendly against Ajaokuta FA on Tuesday evening.
Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, Enyimba Stadium Aba, Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium Port Harcourt, Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo, Mobolaji Johnson Arena Lagos and Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City were the stadia in Nigeria approved to host CAF Inter club matches.
The chairman also confirmed that preparation is in top gear to see that club have a better representation at the CAF Confederations cup.
“The league ended on the 17th of July we had only five days break, we have been training and trying to blend the new players with the old players, we will keep working until our first game”, He added.
When asked about the unveiling of the new coach Azeez Mohammed the football administrator said “It one step at a time we want to keep working and concentrate on the task ahead so we don’t have time for ceremonies now but as time goes on we will do the needful”.
Kwara United will begin their CAF confederation cup campaign on September 9th against AS Douanes of Niger while the reverse fixture will go down on September 16th.
