Bayelsa United have failed to reach the group phase of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup following a humiliating 4-0 defeat to CS Sfaxien in their second leg preliminary round fixture on Saturday evening in Tunisia, Owosports.com.ng reports.
It was a 4-1 aggregate loss for the Nigeria Aiteo cup champions who had won the first leg in Bayelsa 1-0 before suffering a heavy second leg defeat away in Tunisia which confirmed their elimination from the competition.
Bayelsa United against all odds made it to second round of the Confederation Cup after beating Ashanti Gold of Guinea 4-2 in a one legged encounter.
End of the road for the Bayelsa United who will now turn their attention to gaining promotion to qualifying for the NPFL.
