One of Nigerians representatives at this year’s CAF Confederation Cup Bendel Insurance is faced with a tough route just to reach the group stage the competition, with Algerian outfit ASO Chlef lying in wait in the first preliminary round.
The winners of that tie will then confront 2022 winners RS Berkane of Morocco in the second and final preliminarily round to reach the group phase.
Bendel Insurance defender Tanimu Benjamin is unbothred by the challenge ahead as he believes that with team work and team spirit the Benin Arsenals would be a force to reckoned with.
The Nigerian Olympics Eagles defender in an exclusive chat with www.owosports.com.ng. said. “It is a tough draw but I believe with team work and team spirit we will scale through and we will do everything possible to make sure we progress to the next stage.
“We will take the game as they come one at a time after the first we look up to the next but right now we are focused on the first”, He said.
Bendel Insurance had a brilliant run in the 2022/2023 Nigeria professional football league season where they recorded twenty unbeaten runs and capped it up with the Federations cup title after defeating Rangers International 1-0 in the final at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba Delta State to seal the CAF Confederation cup ticket.
They will be playing in the continent for first time in 28 years with their last outing being in 1995 when as defending champions, they crashed out at the second round of the then third-tier CAF competition, the CAF Cup.
