Former Chelsea and West Ham striker Carlton Cole has lambasted Lionel Messi for his silence following a racist chanting incident involving his Argentine teammates.
Cole expressed his disappointment and frustration in an interview with TalkSport, saying, “He needs to come out and say something about this behavior. Otherwise, it’s like he doesn’t care.
He doesn’t care how I feel, he doesn’t care how some of his black teammates he’s had in the past feel.”
The incident in question involved offensive chants directed at the French national team, with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez apologizing for his involvement.
However, Messi’s silence on the matter has drawn criticism from Cole and others, highlighting the need for leadership and accountability in addressing racism in football.
