Scottish Premiership champions Celtic Football Club have confirmed the signing of Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year contract, subject to international clearance. The deal also includes an option for a further year.
The 27-year-old joins the Glasgow giants as a free agent following the termination of his contract with Sevilla after the close of the summer transfer window.
Iheanacho, who won the Golden Ball and Golden Boot at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup, has had a difficult spell in Spain since moving from Leicester City to Sevilla in the summer of 2024. He struggled for game time at the La Liga side and spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Middlesbrough in the English Championship.
Now set for a fresh start in Scotland, the Super Eagles striker will be looking to rediscover his form and make a strong impact at Celtic Park.
Celtic view the signing as a boost to their attacking options as they aim to defend their domestic crown and make progress in European competitions this season.
