Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze was among the scorers as his Spanish side Villarreal were held at home 2-2 to Hapoel Beer Sheva from Israel in Thursday’s Europa Conference League game.
The 23-year-old Nigerian international, who was making his 4th appearance in the competition, scored his second goal of the campaign as his club dropped points for the first time in Europe this season.
In a dry first half, Hapoel Beer Sheva took the lead in the 48th minute through Timer Hemed via a penalty before Chukwueze restored parity in the 54th minute for Villarreal.
The hosts extended their lead in the 70th minute through Amaut Danjuma before Hapoel drew level in the 79th minute through Sagiv Yehezkel.
All efforts for both teams to get all three points proved abortive as the the game ended in a draw.
The result ended table toppers Villarreal winning streak in group C.
The Yellow Submarines, who are already confirmed group winners, will travel to Poland to play Lech next Thursday in the last group stage match.
