The abridged Nigeria Premier League (NPL) 2022/2023 season came to a halt on Sunday June 11th 2023 with Enyimba emerging champions from the super six championship Playoffs held in Lagos. However the club’s are yet to received their promised N10 million naira take-off grant from IMC/GTI Group, Owosports.com.ng reports.
Recall that before the commencement of the league season the Interim Management Committee (IMC) in Abuja on January 5th 2023 announced a partnership deal worth N200 million with The GTI Group which was meant to serve as a take-off grant to be shared by the twenty NPL club’s.
However six months after the announcement of this partnership deal, and the league concluded the club’s are yet to receive their expected N10 million naira take-off grant from Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye’s led IMC.
According to my source a member of the NPL club owners when asked if they were paid the 10 million from GTI/IMC ? He responded, “Gotten which money? We’ve not received anything since the IMC made the announcement. The chairman even promised to pay yesterday (Wednesday) but we’ve not seen it but we keep waiting”.
Nigerians seek to know why the money has not been paid after the completion of the league, who is holding on to the money and reasons for the delay.
