Technical Adviser of Kwara United football club, Azeez Mohammed is optimistic that his team can spring up surprise against defending champions RS Berkane to reach the next stage of the competition.
The Harmony Boys booked a CAF Confederations second preliminary round date with defending champions RS Berkane of Morocco after they saw off AS Douanes 3-0 on aggregate in the first preliminary round. The winner over two leg will earn a place in the group phase of the competition.
“There are no invisible team in football so RS Berkane can be beaten”, The Former Kastina United gaffer said on Sports Express on Gerin 95.5FM Ilorin on Saturday morning.
“I’m happy with the mentality of my players, we’ve got lots of experience players in the squad some who have also played in the continent with their previous club’s and also some National team players in the mix which have been massive for us and if we continue with this tempo I think we can spring up surprises and go far in the competition.
“We are very lucky to have the set of players we have at the moment all we need now is just need to keep motivating them off and on the pitch and let them understand our philosophy and how we want to play. Any coach that has this set of players should consider himself luck”, He added.
He also stated that playing away in the first leg is always an advantage but added that Kwara United despite playing the first leg at home they will be ready for the huge task.
“To play away in the first leg is always good especially if you don’t have head knowledge of the team you are playing but playing at home it depends on your preparation and your mentality and how you approach the game playing at home first we must always try to take our chances”, He concluded.
Kwara United will host RS Berkane in the first leg of the second preliminary round at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Lagos on October 9th 2022.
