Coach Salisu Yusuf of the Nigeria U-23 has reacted to the 1-1 draw against Tanzania in their first leg of the 2023 Nations Cup of U-23.

The hosts came back from a goal down to snatch a draw from the visitors in the game played at the Benjamin Mpaka Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

It was Success Makanjuola who sent the Nigerian team to the lead after converting the penalty kick in the first half. The Tanzanian would also 13 minutes to the end of the game found an opportunity to level up from the same spot through Pascal Msindo

Speaking after the game, Coach Yusuf noted his team could have won if his boys had made the best of their chances.

“It’s an hard game. They’re already in match situation and we are not in match situation. We could have won the game but we didn’t take two chances. We thank God for the draw.

“The plan is to win them and move to the next round by the grace of God. We will continue to work with the group and as you can see, they have improved. They’re improving as a team and I think they will play better in Nigeria”

The Dream Team will host Tanzania next weekend at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba in Ibadan where they hope to pick the needed win enough to see them qualify for the main tournament next year
