Delta Queens have emerged champions of the Nigeria premier women’s league for the 2022/2023 season, Owosports.com.ng reports.
Delta Queens came from a goal down to defeat Bayelsa Queens 2-1 in the final of the Nigeria Women’s Football League held on Sunday at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium in Asaba Delta State.
Defending champions Bayelsa Queens went into the lead in the 14th minute after an own goal from Henry Chisom.
Chinaza Agoh netted the leveller in the 67th minute through an acrobatic kick and would then sealed game in the 86th minute to hands Delta Queens the win.
The victory secured WAFU B ticket for the team and also a N10 million naira cash prize while Bayelsa Queens get N5 million naira for finishing second.
Rivers Angels was the first to represent the country in the maiden edition of the CAF Champions League, while Bayelsa Queens represented the country in 2022 and would end up as the third best team in the competition after finishing third with a bronze medal.
