Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis has completed a season-long loan move to Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir from Nottingham Forest, Owosports.com.ng reports.
The 25-year-old who arrived at the City Ground from Watford last summer has found game time hard to come by in Steve Cooper’s side and has subsiquently been axed from Forest’s premier league roaster this season.
The former Club Brugge forward will now spend the remainder of the season on loan at Turkish Club Instabul Basaksehir with no buy option included.
The striker was reported to have had interest from both Russia and Saudi Arabia, but has chosen Istanbul as his destination for the 2023-24 season.
Dennis who has once played against Emmanuel Adebayo’s Instanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA champions league qualifiers with Club Brugge in 2017 explained that the former Togolese captain had told him good things about the club which influenced his decision to join when they came calling.
Speaking to Istanbul Basaksehir’s media team after his loan move was confirmed said: “My first encounter with Başakşehir was when Club Brugge played against them in qualification for the Champions League.
“My big brother Emmanuel Adebayor played the game as well so we had a conversation after the game and he invited me later to Istanbul.
“I met him here, we relaxed, went to his house together, spent the whole day together. He told me few things about the club.
“It was just in my head and then recently I received a message from my agent that the club were interested in me.
“I said it’s a nice place, I’m familiar with them because I’ve been to the stadium, I have played against them, I’ve had few friends who played here, they always tell me good stories about the people, the club, so I decided to come here.” He said.
The striker will wear No 99 jersey.
