Super Falcons forward, Desire Oparanozie has won the Chinese Women’s Super League with her club Wuhan Jianghan University.
The 29-year-old Nigerian international was in action in the early hours of Saturday morning as Wuhan Jianghan University defeated Jiangsu Wuxi1-0 on the final Matchday of the 18-game women’s super League season.
Oparanozie took to her official Twitter handle in excitement reveal her achievements.
“Behold your Chinese Women’s Super League Champion🏆🥇🏅#WhatAYear! #Proud💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾,” the post reads.
The victory ended a remarkable season for the Chinese Women’s Super League champions as the Wuhan based team had already won the title with two games to spare on matchday 16 after beating Guangdong Meizhou Hakka away from home 5-0.
After winning the title for the past two League seasons, Wuhan Jianghan University has now completed a treble of league titles having not won the league in the first 18 years of the club’s reign.
The title for Desire Oparanozie broke her nine-year wait for a league crown having won it with European giants Wolfsburg in the German women’s Super League in 2013-2014 league season in a year she only made a league appearance for the side before moving to Turkish women’s league side Ataşehir Belediyespor.
Desire started her career at Bayelsa Queens in the Nigerian Women’s Championship and moved to Delta Queens in 2010.
Oparanozie has been a regular member of the Nigerian national team since 2010, participating in the FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments of 2011, 2015, and 2019.
She has also been part of the Nigerian squads of the African Women’s Championship of 2010 and 2014, 2016 and 2018, winning all four tournaments. She scored crucial goals in both the 2014 and 2016 finals.
