Alex Iwobi made his 60th appearance for the Super Eagles in their 2-1 loss to Algeria Desert Foxes in an international friendly on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old midfielder who currently plies his trade for Everton Football club in the Premier League impressed despite the defeat to Algeria at the Stade Olympique d’Oran.
Iwobi started his professional career at Arsenal, where he made 149 appearances, scored 15 goals, won the FA Cup in 2017, and scored in the 2019 UEFA Europa League final before moving to Everton at an initial £28 million price in August 2019.
Eligible to represent England or his birth country Nigeria, Iwobi started as a youth international for England, with whom he won the 2011 Victory Shield.
At the youth level, Iwobi won 11 caps for England. However, in 2015, he decided to play for Nigeria. On October 8 in Visé, Belgium, during a friendly loss to DR Congo by a 2-0 scoreline, he made his Super Eagles senior debut after coming on to replace Ahmed Musa.
The Midfielder who played his 60th game for Nigeria on Tuesday 27th September 2022 has scored 10 goals in that run including the winner Against Zambia that took the 2013 AFCON winners into the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
