National Sports Commission Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, recently met with Chief Mike Itemuagbor, CEO of Pamodzi Sports Marketing Ltd., to discuss ways to increase private sector participation and investment in sports.

This meeting aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s sports economy mandate, which aims to transform the sporting sector from consumption to production.

The discussion centered around advancing private sector involvement in sports, creating value chains across the industry, and harnessing opportunities in the sector. Dikko emphasized the importance of private sector investment in achieving the target of contributing 3% to the nation’s GDP.

Chief Itemuagbor, a former member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) marketing committee, brings a wealth of experience in marketing local and international sporting events. His expertise will be invaluable in developing strategies to promote sports investment and participation.

The National Sports Commission is committed to creating a sports weekend economy, where sporting facilities are utilized during weekends, promoting relaxation and job creation. With private sector involvement, the commission aims to make the sports sector a significant contributor to the nation’s economy.
