CEO of Dino Sporting Club Samuel, Abeokuta Samuel Omamofe Columbus says he’s satisfied with the outcome of just concluded 2020 Ogun State preseason/scouting program.
The invitation tourney which started on Saturday at the main bowl of the MKO Abiola stadium Kuto, Abeokuta ended today, Monday 16th 2020.
A total numbers of eight professional academies from Lagos and Abeokuta featured in the tourney and top German born Latvian based football scout , Olivier Schlegl was on ground to grace the occasion and also select best of talent for a possible move to European clubs.
Speaking to the media at the end of the tourney, Samuel Columbus said he is excited with everything that went down.
“We are very happy with the outcome of the program and you can see the teams that participated are happy with the organization.” He stated.
“We usually have different scouts from different countries coming into to Nigeria, but the current pandemic has restricted many of them from traveling, but Olivier Schlegl was able to come and we are working with him for now and see if we can move one of two players.”
On the players who have been selected by the German scout, The Chairman of Dino Sporting Club, explained that there are plans to help the players fulfill their dreams of playing in Europe.
“The few ones that’s have been chosen will go to Latvia for trials and if they are able to make it, it’s a starting point for young players, so from there can move to bigger leagues, like Tolu Arokodare who moved to Latvian league from Box2Box in Lagos and he’s now in Germany with FC Koln.”
He also added that, players from his club, Dino Sporting academy will have opportunity to test themselves against the national U17 team, Golden Eaglets in the coming weeks.
“We have some young talents from my team that can join the national U17 as well and in the coming weeks, we are still going to have a match with the U17 as well.”He concluded.
