Ayodejj Olowolafe, Ekiti United Secretary, says the JKF Boys will consolidate on it’s good start in the Nigerian National League (NNL) second round by taking the maximum 3points against Go Round FC.
The JKF Boys at the anguished of Shooting Stars bench, stole the evening at the Dipo Dino Stadium as they came from behind to force the Oluyole Warriors to a 1-1 draw in a MatchDay 12 fixture of the NNL.
A delightful Olowolafe in a post-match chat with Football Reporters said: “I have countless times told critics not to write off the team as it can pull off surprises. The result against Shooting Stars was shocking to many you have not seen us play. it was a point we earned deservedly from our derby rivals, and was no fluke.
“Ekiti United players played 3SC with respect when you look at the quality they possess but were no push overs as they matched their opponent’s play. One of our new signings, Isaka Olawale showed class as he kept hold of the midfield by providing a direction of play to his mates with his good passing of the ball to the attack.
” After the Oluyole Warriors had gone up, the JFK Boys didn’t lose focus but maintained their attacking play and in the end, were rewarded with the equalizing goal.
“I can categorically say that in the last 11 games we played, we have not had this kind of fair officiating away from home. Kudos to the refs that handled our game against 3SC but in general our match officials need to step up as few have been found wanting to come this far into the season.
“The point against Shooting Stars is a morale booster to the team as it will spur the team to getting the maximum point against Go Round FC at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti.
“The mandate of the Ekiti State Governor, HIS Excellency John Kayode Fayemi on the team is Premier League football, looking at our position on the log we feel it can be achieved. All we need is to stay focused, take our home points and work extra hard to get some on the road.
” Like I tell people, the challenge Ekiti United has is funding which government alone can not bear. The team had an accident, no indigene of State has come out to support the club, rather it’s been criticisms.
“The team runs on a Six Million Naira (#6,000,000) monthly budget, which of course is not enough to run the club. This can not be compared to other state-owned teams. So am using this medium to call on well-meaning Ekiti State indigenes both at home and diaspora to come to add value to the team.”
