Edo State Deputy Governor congratulates Glory Ogbonna on making Nigeria’s Women’s World Cup squad

Deputy Governor of Edo State, Honourable Philip Shaibu has congratulated Super Falcons defender, Glory Ogbonna for making the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad in Australia and New Zealand.

Honourable Shaibu, an astute football administrator reached out to Ogbonna via a phone call to congratulate her for inclusion even as he enjoined she remain focused and fly the flag of the country high.

“Congratulations on your call up to represent our darling country, proud of you, I will keep praying for you, as I urged you to remain focused and be our good ambassador,” said the former House of Representative member.

The former Edo Queens and Besiktas player is among the final 23 woman list named by Nigeria women’s coach, Randy Waldrum to the mundial.

The nine-time African champions are drawn in group A with co-hosts, Australia, Olympic champions, Canada and debutants, Republic of Ireland.

The tournament will run through July 20th to August 20th, 2023.
