Nigeria’s Emerald Makua delivered a commendable performance to clinch the Bronze medal in the U18 women’s Shot Put event at the ongoing African U18 & U20 Athletics Championships in Abeokuta.
Makua recorded a best throw of 14.30 metres to finish third on the podium, showcasing her potential as one of Nigeria’s promising young talents in field events.
Namibia’s Marika Weitz dominated the competition with a gold-winning throw of 16.32 metres, securing the top spot with a commanding margin. Egypt’s Eab Tamek Alaa claimed the Silver medal after posting a distance of 14.58 metres.
Makua’s Bronze adds to Nigeria’s growing medal tally at the championships and highlights the nation’s continued development in track and field at the youth level.
The African U18 & U20 Championships continue in Abeokuta with more medal prospects for Team Nigeria across various disciplines.
