Usman Abdullah says his Enyimba FC of Aba is not under any pressure to win a 9th Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.

Speaking with OwoSports.com in their Otta camp, Ogun State as they prepare for the CAF Play-Off 1st leg encounter against TS Galaxy of South Africa.

“A lot of question have been asked regarding if I’m under pressure to win the NPFL title again with Enyimba, I would rather say I have the zeal of winning and I like challenges.

“Mind you, the People’s Elephants will give its best shot in this year’s campaign as the management have given me enough support.

“But on the other hand I would love to win it again and again as I want to set a standard for myself.”

Asked on his opinion on the commencement of the 2019/20 season and target, “Its time we kicked off the new season as it has been programmed to aline with the World football calendar.

“Each time we want to go inline with the calendar one or two issues always prop up. We are getting behind too much and that has affected players in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

“Its sad that we are going to kickoff the season under stress, playing weekend (Sundays) and midweek (Wednesdays) matches.”

“I would have said the CAF Champions League as you know the Aba Elephants have won it twice, that was my target when I was named Enyimba gaffer was the Confederation Cup as It’s elusive to all Nigeria domestic teams and one missing in Enyimba’s trophy cabinet.

“So I see this year’s edition of the Confederation Cup as more challenging.

“The first task now is to qualify for the Group stage of CAF Confederation Cup as our next game will be in January. Then we should have enough time to catch up in the NPFL and compete well with the other African teams in our group.”

The eight-time NPFL kings have been drawn against Nasarawa Utd on MatchDay 1⃣ in the fixtures released my the League Management Company (LMC) on Monday.
