Ex Gombe United Striker Yusuf Abdulazeez Completes Mjällby FC Move

Nigerian forward Yusuf Abdulazeez has signed for Mjällby FC from Gombe United FC on a three-year deal, reports OwoSports.com.ng.
According to the club’s official website, the transfer was completed on August 11, the same day the transfer window in Sweden closed.


However, Yusuf wasn’t able to connect to Sweden until this past weekend because of paperwork, work permits and residence permission cards.


As a 17-year-old in 2019, the striker made his professional debut with Gombe United FC.
The Savannah Scorpions forward didn’t have his breakthrough until 2021, when he finished second in the highest-scoring Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) with 16 goals and two assists.


Speaking on Yusuf’s move, Mjällby FC Sporting Director Hasse Larsson said that the club has been monitoring his progress for a while now.


“Yusuf is a player we’ve had our eye on for a long time. It is an interesting striker with strengths in his speed, strength and finishing.
“He has impressive numbers and statistics from Nigeria despite his young age. This is a player we hope can make a difference both in the short and long term,” Larsson stated.


The 20-year-old striker whose contract will run until the l the end of 2025 season is set to be available for selection when his new club Mjällby FC play GIF Sundsvall at home on Sunday.
