Parents in the past were believed to have more preference for education than sports, which made them highly irritated seeing their child having anything to do with sports as a career, a thought which looked to have a taken a drastic turn around in the 21st century, but same cannot be said of Abia Angels winger Merit Offor’s parents as she revealed her dad’s displeasure towards her decision choosing football as a career, Owosports.com.ng reports.
Merit Offor who is currently with Abia Angels preparing for the commencement of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Women Football League ( NWFL) in an Exclusive interview with Owosports.com.ng said, “I have loved football all my life.
“The only thing that makes me happy is football, playing or watching football on TV or live match at the field.
“When i was small I was only privileged to watch Kanu and Jay Jay Okocha, I don’t watch women’s football because my dad doesn’t like anything football so i couldn’t watch women’s football.
“He is not happy with me playing football, but his happiness doesn’t matter in my life my happiness matters alot because am the one playing, but I promise to make him proud one day.
“My dream is to play in Europe and change my family status, and make my father’s name known.
Also sharing her thoughts ahead of the new season the winger reveals her readyiness and believes Abia Angels will give a good fight.
“Am training, though I just recovered from my injury, I had a cut against Edo Queens in one of our preseason game.
“All I need to do is to train listen to instructions from my coaches pray and leave the rest for God but I know we will do well when the season starts”,she concluded.
