The Head Coach of the Nigeria Golden Eaglets, Fatai Amoo has acknowledged the quality of Burkina Faso team after the semi-final match played today at the ongoing WAFU B Tournament in Togo.

Speaking to newsmen after the game, Amao said he had motivated his lads and expressed his believe in them to win the game even though their opponent have the quality to win.

“I knew they really have the players to win this game but we motivated our boys that you are improving, go there we believe you can do it and try all your possible best and they did that by winning the game, Amao said.

He revealed that he decided to strengthen his defense line in a bid to keep the Coach Oumarou Eric Quattara led team at bay considering their ability from the flanks with good players who can head the ball very well coupled with good combination of play in the midfield.

The former Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan gaffer said he had understudied the opponent during their matches against Niger and Benin noting that they had to keep them away from heading the ball and shooting the ball through his defenders.

All thanks to Michael Emmanuel Papo’s strike in the 77th minutes as Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets defeated Burkina Faso to book a place in the final of the 2021 WAFU B tournament in Togo.

Nigeria will face Ivory Coast again in the final on Sunday after the meeting with the ivorian at the group stage ended 1 nil in favour of the latter

Ivory Coast had turned things around for the Nigeria team by beating Ghana the last
group stage match (3-1) to ease  Fatai Amao led side qualifications for the semi-final after securing only 1 point from two games.

The Eaglets has now change the narratives in the wake of the criticism that trailed the exit of the Nigeria U-20 selection in the same competition (different category) few months ago and bring back the lost hope of the country participating in the AFCON Championship in Morroco.
