Federation Cup: Ekene’s Brace Dislodge House Of Prayer As SGFC Set Up Kwara United Semifinal Clash

SGFC Athletics Sports Club defeats House Of Prayer FC 2-0 to set-up a Semifinal clash with Kwara United in the 2023 Kwara State Federations Cup.

Sunday Ekene was the hero as he netted a second half brace with goals coming on the 60th and 75th minutes profiting from a double assist from captain Anthony Jegede to hands the Eagles the needed win.

The results sealed a semifinal clash with NPFL giant Kwara United FC in what would be a second meeting between both side in one month. The first meeting between the two sides was in a friendly game on February 18th which Kwara United won 1-0.

“It was a very good game, the boys put all the details from preparation into practice which shows the they are gradually adapting to the system”, Coach Mashood Yakub said while reacting after the game.

Talking about playing Kwara United in the semifinal, He said “Its going to be a good game, I love it when it comes big. Kwara United is a massive team and we are going to up our game and the boys will definitely be ready for it.

On preparing for the commencement of the NLO season which begins on April 26th. He said “The team is still work in progress, we are building a formidable team and gradually the shape is coming out. We are going to put everything in place before the league commence”, He concluded.
