Flamingoes Arrives Benin Ahead Of DR Congo Clash

Nigeria National U-17 female football team, the Flamingoes this evening touched down in the ancient city of Benin the Edo State capital ahead of the second leg of the 2022 Female U-17 World Cup qualifiers.

According to report from Platinum news, the team from the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja, arrived at the Benin Airport aboard Arik Airline at exactly 7 pm local time.

Coach Bankole Olowookere led side handed their opponents, the Democratic Republic of Congo a 3-0 defeat a fortnight ago, away in Kinshasa and are poised for a double win when they match against their opponents on Saturday.

The return leg is billed for this Saturday, March 19, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

On arrival, the team was received by the Permanent Secretary, Edo State Sports Commission, Mrs Sabina Amiemenoghena Chikere in the company of other officials of the commission. They immediately proceeded to their hotel at the Government Reservation Area of the city. They are expected to have their first training, Wednesday morning (tomorrow).
