Former Akwa United striker Ndifreke Effiong has opened his goal account for Libya top flight side Ahly Benghazi in their 1-0 win over Al-Anwar on Friday night, Owosports.com.ng reports.
The former home based Super Eagles striker who was the joint top scorer in the first stanza of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional football league season with eight goals alongside Yusuf Sadiq, Joined Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi last month from Akwa United.
Effiong was the difference in a very difficult game after getting the winner few minutes away from stoppage time to secure maximum points for Al Ahly Benghazi who played host to Al-Anwar.
The win has however moved Al Ahly Benghazi top of the Libyan Premier league on goal difference as they level on 34 points with Al Nasr with both teams now set to battle each other on Tuesday.
