Gianluca Vialli, a former Chelsea and Italy player who also managed the west London side has died at the age of 58 after a long battle with cancer

The Italian football legend played for Chelsea between 1996 and 1999, scoring 40 goals in 88 matches before taking over as player-manager in February 1998.

Chelsea under his management won the league cup, the European Cup Winner’s Cup, and the FA Cup.

He was first time diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2017 before he declared he was given the clear-off from the ailment before joining Italy’s backroom staff for Euro 2020.

He played for Cremonese, Sampdoria, and Juventus all in Italy before moving to Chelsea in 1996, and played 59 matches for his country. He was survived by his wife and children.
