Former Nigerian International Dickson Paul Etuhu has been given a five year ban by the Swedish FA the former Fulham Midfielder, Dickson Etuhu has been ban from all footballing activities in the country.
However Etuhu had earlier been found guilty of match-fixing attempts back in 2017. That year, it was alleged that the former Nigerian international was involved in match-fixing scandals.
Dickson Etuhu stands guilty of attempting to fix the match between IFK Gothenburg and AIK back in 2017 as It was recorded that the match was cancelled after the authorities were notified that there was an attempt of match-fixing.
In November 2019, the Court Of Appeal in Stockholm said “What preceded the meeting and what was said at the meeting must be seen in a context.
In the opinion of the court, Kenny Stamatopoulos has clearly been offered an improper benefit.
The former Nigeria international escaped a jail sentence in Sweden following a court ruling on Wednesday.
Etuhu who played for AIK Solna in the Swedish top-flight between 2015 and 2016, was banned for five years for trying to influence former teammate Kyriakos “Kenny” Stamatopoulos with money to fix a game between AIK and IFK Gothenburg in May 2017.
Dickson Etuhu Represented Nigerian 33 times between 2007 – 2011 Scoring no goal.
He also wore the colours of Manchester city, Fulham, Sunderland, Norwich and Blackburn during his stay in England before joing Swedish topflight side AIK Solina.
