Free Agent Nigerian striker Joins Saudi Arabia Side Al Faiha

One capped Nigeria Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme will continue his football career in Saudi Arabia after he penned down a two year contract with Al Faiha.

After helping Trabzonspor to the Turkish Super Liga triumph for the first time in 38 years last season the Nigerian departed the club following the expiration of his contract.

He made 36 appearance for Trabzonspor in all competitions last term scoring 15 goals providing 11 Assists, He had combined 119 appearances since 2018 scoring 40 times.

Despite interest from Galatasaray the Nigerian decided to continue his football adventure in the Arab Nation after failing to agree personal terms with the Turkish giant.

Al Faiha announced his arrival to the club in a well celebrated ceremony which took place in the historic Jabal Munikh Castle, one of the most prominent landmarks of Al Majmaah Governorate.

A statement by Al Fayha on the arrival of the Nigerian reads, “The pride we have in our heritage and the glory of our ancestors led us to choose Munikh Castle built over 600 years ago which symbolizes steadfastness and strength, as the venue for welcoming newly-signed Al Fayhaa player Anthony Nwakaeme through one of the most famous folk arts in Saudi Arabia.”

The 33-year-old has won the Israeli Premier League on three occasion with Hapoel Ra’anana and Hapoel Be’er Sheva before lifting the Turkish League last season.

His only cap for the Super Eagles came in a 1-1 2018 World Cup qualifier draw against Algeria on 10 November 2017.
