World number one Novak Djokovic has reached the 2021 French Open finals after beating Rafael Nadal 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 in a remarkable battle at Roland Garros.

The Spaniard went into the contest having won 105 of his previous 107 matches on the Parisian clay, losing only to Robin Soderling in the fourth round in 2009 and Djokovic in the last eight six years ago.

Nadal had not lost in his last previous 13 semi-finals but bowed to the Serbian in what was their 58th match between them with Djokovic coming out victorious after a 3-6 6-3 7-6 (4) 6-2 win.

Novak Djokovic will now take on Stefanos Tsitsipas who had earlier on Friday defeated Alexander Zverev in Sundays French Open men’s Singles final, Djokovic however will be pushing for his 19th grand slam title and to become the first man in the Open era to win each title at least twice.
