Gateway United have dedicated their 2021/2022 NNL week 14 victory over J Atete to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
In honour of Governor Abiodun’s 62nd birthday which also coincides with his 3rd anniversary as executive Governor of Ogun State, Haruna Salifu’s solitary strike in 19th minute ensured Ayinla’s charges maintained their 100 percent home record at home to leapfrog Insurance to the top of the summit with 29 points.
19th minute into the game, Salifu Haruna drilled home a right footed strike into the near post, and that made the absolute difference between both sides.
Speaking after the win, acting General Manager, Niyi Soleye dedicated the victory to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his unalloyed support.
“Another big three points in the bag worthy of dedication to His Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, the executive governor of Ogun State whose 62nd birthday is celebrated today as well as his third anniversary in office. We thank him for his immense support for the club. We knew that nothing but victory would be good enough and we will continually put in effort to ensure that the elusive NPFL ticket is clinched”
Soleye further assured the teeming fans of the club that the best is yet to come as the team will continue to improve.
Coach Toyin Ayinla commended his charges for ensuring maximum points in a pulsating encounter.
“Not the easiest of game. But we did manage to clinch all points. We tried to score more but we were not so lucky in front of goal. We will continue to push harder as we look forward to our next game in Enugu”.
