Ghana Football Association (GFA) would have to choose a different venue for the first leg of the FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria after the Cape Coast Stadium failed to meet CAF requirements ahead of the crucial game.
Sequel to their inspection on Monday, March 14, CAF inspectors has deemed the Cape Coast Stadium unfit to host the upcoming encounter upon completing their inspection on Tuesday.
Recall that the pitch was badly affected after the government hosted her country’s 65th Independence Day Anniversary parade at the Stadium.
Although the Ghana National Sports Authority (NSA) in the past week has made efforts to get the pitch back in shape, but the pitch, we learnt was still not yet up to the required standards.
It is as a result of this that CAF will now force the Ghana FA to get a new venue for the game.
Sources report that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium could be selected to host the all-important first leg between the Black Stars and the Super Eagles but Nigeria must accept to play the game in Kumasi if they refuse the game will be heading to Benin.
