Give Home-Based players Equal Opportunity To Compete – Benedict Akwegbu To Rohr

Former Super Eagles forward Benedict Akwegbu believes that the Nigeria Professional Football League players NPFL deserves to be given equal chance to the Super Eagles team.

Akwegbu in a chat with Brila FM stated, there are excellent players in the local league and the best ones should be given the chance to showcase themselves.

“I think the Nigerian home-based players should be given equal chance for the Super Eagles team so that the best one can pick the shirt”.

Akwegbu who was part of the Super Eagles squad to the 2002 Korea/Japan FIFA world cup believes there are players in the league who will perform well at the big stage if given an equal chance to wear the Super Eagles jersey.

”Everyone should be given the same equal opportunity, I think we have excellent footballers that can do well at the world cup and the nation’s cup so, for me, it’s a good idea every player wants to play for his nation is a natural things, that’s why they must be given equal chance and organize more friendly games so that, the players can show themselves.
