Sports development has continued to take a new dimension in Kwara State with the latest approval of the upgrading of Oloffa Stadium in Offa local government area of Kwara State to a Grade A Stadium by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. www.owosports.com.ng reports.

In a post on the official page of the Kwara State Government on Monday, work is expected to begin on the stadium on December, 27 this year and be completed in 2022.

The statement reads:

“Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has approved the upgrading of the Oloffa Stadium in Offa with the installation of synthetic grass at the edifice and provision of new stands, dressing rooms, referees changing rooms, media tribune and other facilities that will qualify it to host Grade A matches”.

The statement further added that “Work will begin at the stadium on December 27 ,2021 , and would be completed next year (2022)”

The stadium is expected to serve as a makeshift home ground for the state darling team , Kwara United in the event of an impending renovation of the main bowl of the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin.

Recall that the state government had to put in some level of work of ‘retouching’ the main bowl the Kwara State, especially the turf in view of getting a provisional approval to host Kwara United NPFL games after the league management company (LMC) had earlier rejected the stadium to host league games.
