Heartland Good To Win Aiteo Cup says, Makalala

Despite the uncertainty that marred the Aiteo Cup with the teams pulling out from participating in the quarter-finals, Heartland has become the first to qualify for the semis, reports OwoSports.com.

The Naze Millionaires on Thursday defeated Katsina United 4-2 on penalties in the quarter-final played at the Ilorin Stadium, Kwara State.

The game had ended goalless and the winner of the tie had to be decided via spot kicks and it was Heartland that got the better of Katsina Utd.

After the game, Victor Makalala informed us that the players have resolved to win this year’s Aiteo Cup (FA Cup) for fans of the club.

The former Rio Olympics (U-23 invitee) and Georgia FC of Atlanta striker were full of praise for the team as he expressed his delight.

“It’s a good feeling for me and my teammates to have come this far in the oldest knockout tournament in Nigeria.

“Our success so far in this year’s edition of the tournament has not come easy have beaten J.M Liberty and tough opponents of former winners Rangers in an Oriental Derby in Round of 32, Dakkada FC (Round of 16) and Katsina United en route to the last four of the Challenge Cup now Aiteo Cup.

“Having got to this crucial stage, the challenge on us is to go all out and win the Aiteo Cup as the best gift for our loyal fans who stood by us all through this season.

“Winning it for won’t come easy as we have other tough teams to play against but with the right mentality, and good backing from the management and Imo State Government, who says Heartland can win it.”

Heartland who have progressed to the Aiteo Cup semifinal will have to wait for the other teams to play their quarter-final games for them to know their semi-final opponent.
