Former Heartland Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has queried the management of the club after they yet again failed to pay him his eight months owed salaries and a balance of his sign-on fee.
A dejected Ilechukwu said the backlog which amounts to about 11.6 million Naira, question why the Heartland management didn’t pay him even after the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma released 120 million Naira to the club to off-set debts owed former coaches and players of the club about a month ago.
“During my time with Heartland; I saw the challenges the club was facing, yet I put in my best performance for the club.
“This a mentally not strong hearted coach wouldn’t do as he would have called it quit during that period.
“Sadly and despite me and my assistant bearing the pains of not earning salaries, I lost a loved one to the ‘Cold hands of Death’. At that period I didn’t have money, when I ran to my employers, they told me there was way they could raise money for me to pay the medical bills of my sick family member.
“Unfortunately, after the state government released money for Heartland, the management decided not to pay me.
“The act by Heartland, I call wickedness and a witchcraft character. They believe I don’t have anyone to fight for me but they can not fight grace.”
Ilechukwu who spent two seasons with the Naze Millionaires after parting ways with Lagos-based MFM FC after over a decade, replaced Abdul Maikaba as Plateau United coach in August this year.
