The Chief Executive Officer of Delta Queens football club Henrrientta Ehiabor has attributed the team’s failure to qualify for the CAF champions league to hard luck.

The regaining Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Champions narrowly lost out on qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League to Ampem Darkoa of Ghana, who beat them 1-0 in the final of the WAFU B final in Benin City, Edo State.

Henrrientta Ehiabor while addressing journalists in Asaba Delta State venue for the 7th edition of the National Youth Games said it was an experience no one would have wished describing the unfortunate outcome as a “hard luck”.

“Definitely nobody would want to experience a loss so I think you know what the feeling was, I wouldn’t say we lost out for me it was a hard luck for us”. She said.

Talking about the team’s performance she said; “I was very proud of my girls and I am still proud of them. There was so much work that was put into the outcome that everyone experienced from the management, the coaches the players and every member of the backroom staff and especially the support that we got from the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission.

“To be precise about my take on the emergence of Delta Queens qualification to play in WAFU B. I guess everybody did see their play Delta Queens were unbeaten home and away in the league season unfortunately we had hard luck in the finals against the Ghana team.

“There was a whole lot to take from the experience for me you don’t leave any stone unturned the Management, technical crew, players it was an experience for us of which we’ve learnt one or two from which would enhance our play and everything that has to do with the team going into next season” She concluded.

On Delta State hosting the National Youth Games she said we should expect ‘Nothing less’ of what was experienced at the National Sports Festival last December.
