The Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Lawal, has reaffirmed his administration’s strong commitment to sports development, unveiling a clear mission, vision, and strategy to harness the potentials of young talents across the local government.
The LAW as he’s fondly called by his admirers in an exclusive interview with OwoSports.com.ng, speaks on his sports development agenda, described sports as a “powerful tool for youth empowerment, community unity, and economic growth.” He emphasized that his administration is determined to provide platforms for young people to showcase their skills, reduce social vices, and prepare them for opportunities at both national and international levels.
His mission is to build a vibrant sports culture in Ado-Odo/Ota by engaging young people through structured competitions, training programmes, and access to modern facilities.
While his vision is to position Ado-Odo/Ota as a hub for grassroots sports development in Ogun State, nurturing future champions who will proudly represent Nigeria on the global stage.
As part of this drive, Hon. Lawal has rolled out initiatives aimed at discovering and developing raw talents in football, basketball, table tennis, athletics, and other sporting activities. Inter-ward tournaments, sports clinics, and mentorship programmes are being introduced to give youths practical exposure and professional guidance.
Beyond talent discovery, his administration is also focusing on empowerment. Sporting activities are being leveraged to create opportunities for coaches, referees, administrators, and small-scale entrepreneurs, ensuring that sports development delivers both social and economic impact within the local government.
