The team captain of the Nigeria women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, Sarah Ogoke, has revealed that it is painful not to be part of the team’s list for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Nigerians are worried about the absence of the team’s captain on the list released recently by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), but the federation also released a statement that Sarah Ogoke will not be part of the Olympics due to personal reasons.

On Saturday, in an X space (formerly known as Twitter) on the official X handle of D’Tigress, tagged “Chat With Sarah Ogoke,” Sarah Ogoke addressed her fans and all Nigerians at large, encouraging them to show massive support for her teammates.

She said, “It’s very hard as I won’t be part of the 2024 Paris Olympics, and as I said, it’s for personal reasons, which can be revealed later. I urge all Nigerians to show massive support for the team to succeed. If I have a chance, I will definitely visit them to cheer them up. I’m with them in spirit, and I wish them the best.”

Sarah explained that she believes strongly in her teammates, adding that they will fight hard to come out victorious. She noted that there is no team to underestimate, but her teammates are capable of winning and they will win.

While expressing her feelings about her performance and duties so far for the team, she appreciated the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) for the opportunities and privileges the body created for them. She added that the Nigeria women’s basketball team will continue to raise the bar high.

Sarah Ogoke advised young promising basketball players to stay focused and determined, adding that commitment and hard work are the only ways to success.
