Basking in the euphoria of scoring his first Premier League goal, Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho says he has shifted his focus is on this weekend’s game against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the King Power Stadium, OwoSports.com.ng reports.
Iheanacho was on target as he netted his first of the season goal as the Foxes outclassed Fulham 2-0 at the Craven Cottage on Wednesday night.
The forward opened scoring in the 17th minutes when he headed home his first Premier League goal of the season after connecting perfectly to James Maddison’s excellent cross to power home a delightful header past Alphonse Areola from close-range.
Maddison then turned provider again as he recorded two assists in the game for the first time, teeing up Justin to round Areola and slot in the second goal moments before half-time as Leicester’s clinical touch returned after their poor defeat by Leeds last Saturday.
Iheanacho was in action for the entire duration of the game, while compatriots Wilfred Ndidi was missing due to an Injury he picked up last week in a draw against Everton.
He told LCFCTv after the game: “I would say I wasn’t desperate to put up a performance against Fulham despite Jamie Vardy not available, I have been good in training and I worked really hard to get my chance. The chance came and I took it.
“We’re delighted, a clean sheet and it’s good to be back to winning ways after the shocking home defeat in the game against Leeds United. We’ll get going and focus on the next games.
“I wasn’t expecting to score, I just got in between Fulham’s central defenders and nodded the ball in. It’s a tough game at the weekend against Wolves, we just need to stick together and focus on the game.”
