Heartland FC of Owerri Supporters Clubs on Saturday throw away their differences as they got united to become one during a novelty game organised for them by Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, reports OwoSports.com.
This is first of its kind in the 43-year history of the Naze Millionaires that such a game is played by its Supporters Club.
Ilechukwu ‘Working One’ said after Columbia Supporters Club pipped Heartland Red Fans via a lone goal scored in the 2nd half.
“The Ilechukwu Cup was hosted to bring the club fans together as one with a view to supporting the team with one massive voice as we count days to the kickoff of the 2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
“Since rehabilitation works is still ongoing at the Dan Anyaim Stadium in Owerri, the team will be banking on them for the needed support at our adopted ground Okigwe as they are the 12th-man on the pitch.
“During my time with MFM FC of Lagos, Agege fans know I don’t joke with them as I have much respect for the Supporters Club and fans, as they are part of my success story. So I hold them in high esteem. This good rapport I want have with Heartland fans and it’s Supporters Club.”
However, I want to use medium to thank HIS Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Sir Emeka Ihedioha, Chairman of Heartland Board, Barrister Charles Ezekwem JP, his members, club management and my assistants for the support coming this far.
The Naze Millionaires will Kick off the season with an home game against MFM FC.
